Hazel Q.

You found me.

You’re probably here because you were internet sleuthing me for some reason. Here, I’ll help you out:

Some things I'm pretty into

I’m a marketer-event-planner-writer-strategist who has done a lot of jobs and in always into conversations to talk about any of those things.

Tap any of these cards to see highlights.

MARKETING & BRANDING

I don't know what good I would have served in ancient times, but today I can market the hell out of most things - especially tech and software-related things.

Some Highlights

Leading the launch of StellarWP as a brand within Liquid Web.

Building marketing systems from the group up for a number of startups and tech companies

The Events Colander, a fun branded joke

COMMUNITY

Building communities and rallying people around a common cause is a passion of mine and something I often find myself returning to for fulfillment both professionally and personally.

Some Highlights

Launching the first Orange County, CA community for Yelp and growing it 50x.

Building a community & a huge "Coachella for Kids" event called Littlepalooza for families in Long Beach called LB Littles.

WORDPRESS & SAAS

I'm as obsessed with tech tools as a consumer as I am as a marketer. These days I run marketing for Stellar WP which is squarely in this world and it's a place I love being.

Some Highlights

Grew email subscriber base 10x in 4 months

Built countless leadgen funnels and expert and getting in front of the right customer at the right time when it comes to world of WordPress.

EVENTS

This was the place I thought my career would end up. I've done so many events, I now have an uncanny ability to spout out the fire-marshall approved capacity of a room within 5 seconds.

Some Highlights

An all bacon-themed party (complete with Bakon Vodka) for 1,200 Yelpers.

The ultimate "Coachella for kids" music festival: Littlepalooza

Around 100 weddings

NOTION

Did I mention I'm obsessed with tech tools? This is my fave s of late. Considering getting into making templates.

Some Highlights

Now true highlights here yet, but I did built out a whole task, wiki, and project system for Stellar WP that I'm pretty jazzed about.

LONG BEACH

This city has my heart.

Some Highlights

Went to college here. Fell in love here. Had kids here. Started so many businesses here.

Some half-baked ideas

Hi. I’m Hazel and I’m addicted to buying domain names. Here’s a laundry list of half-baked ideas I’m kind of sort of maybe doing something with.

Graveyard of ideas

These were largely beyond ideas. Some were full-fledged businesses, but time marches on and businesses come and go.

A cause I care about

An estimated 40,000 people are incarcerated for cannabis offenses, while cannabis is legal in more than half of the United States.

That’s some bullshit.

What's a personal user manual?

Okay, it sounds sterile, but I’m a big believer in personal user manuals as a way of fostering psychological safety at work. Helping diminish ambiguity and work styles, where possible goes a long way with that.

Basically, it’s a doc outlining how you like to work, collaborate, communicate, and receive feedback.

This is also a Notion template for a person user manual you can duplicate.

A bit about psychological safety at work

Amy Edmonson has shared lots of really interesting research about fostering psychological safety. I highly recommend her TED talk covering key communication styles.

Marketing Director for StellarWP

It’s so very millennial of me to put my day job down under “projects I’m working on.” I realize this. I own it.

Building the StellarWP brand within Liquid Web has been a fantastic convergence of my work with WordPress, marketing, and startups – and I’m super excited for all to come.

Speaking & writing about 1-person marketing teams

Scroll down and you’ll see lots of little projects I’m dabbling in, but lately I’ve been spending a lot of time working on writing and recording podcasts about marketing.
